Have I always been birth obsessed? The short answer is YES!

The long answer...

Women who grew up in the late 1990s and early 2000s might remember TLC's "A Baby Story". That was my favorite show when I was young! I distinctly remember when my aunt was pregnant and we used to watch it on Saturdays together (I was around 9). Fast forward to when I was 18 and a freshman at GVSU, I thought about becoming a L&D nurse, then entertained the idea of dropping out to go to a midwifery school and become a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife). Spoiler alert, I didn't.

In 2020 I had my first baby. Kayleigh was born in the hospital with the support of a midwife and I had the epidural. Although nothing was traumatic or wrong with her labor & delivery, I had desired an unmedicated, natural birth so when I got pregnant with McKinley, I started looking at other options.

I went on to have a homebirth with my second and third babies!
